It may be the coldness, the flayed brush, the glupy paint, the lack of enthusiasm or a combination of everything, but this was rushed and very little care as I just wanted to get this one completed. Trying to paint yellow flames or even the chequered squares on the shoulder was far from the recent standards that I would normally be happy with. However I was at the point where I just wanted the new year to arrive so I can break out a new brush. This model wasn't worth doing that early and I still have two more to go. |

This second one turned out a bit better than the first as I had the feet firm on the ground. Although the feet claws are broken due to too many attempts to position it on the base. At least this doesn't defy gravity. The paint scheme was much plain, especially trying to work with black and as I like my contrasting red wires, I kept it simple. Overall I like this model more than the first, especially the had with its single white tooth.
I managed to do a few short sessions throughout the week to paint the Ion Cannon and then finally today added some detail to the Bunkers to finish it off. I'll soon have enough scenary pieces that I may finally decide to take pictures of my Tau Armoured Core to add to this website. I probably would have had the Power Capsule done too if it wasn't so hot. At least I managed to get time off from my tablet games.
It would have been easier glueing the Ion cannons to the central column, however I wanted it to be removable. To complicate things more, I didn't want to use the 40K Drone or the smaller Drone shield. So I had to cut out circles and didn't want the disc too big either, leaving me a very small edge to glue the cannons to. Then to top it off, I added an epic base with small rods to the base so I could paint the red drone sensor. Hopefully as complicated as it gets... until I decide to add some pop-up minature missile launchers or something ridiculously complicated to make.
I'm so glad that I used a full length rod for the barrel and wrapped the end with thin plastic. The overall look is so much more satisfying (and straight). Although I'm not sure if I could replicate this on the smaller size Battlesuits,
The final image added to the Concept to Completion page. Just a minor addition to the site updates, but at least something. Hopefully once I get a few more scenary pieces and some backdrop, I can start taking more photos and populate the Tau Army section of this site. Here is a nice shot to showcase the drone like feature beneath the tower platforms. The Tau symbol on the front tilted as it's held on by a single 1mm magnet... think I got to glue this instead like the other two.
