Rather than just glueing the Ork's hand to the picture board, I ended up twisting it so I could add a handle bar to the back. The back of the hand needed only minor touch up. However I noticed that there was a strand of fiber bottom left of the picture board that seemed to get there either during or after I applied the matte varnish :( Nope, not going to redo this... |

I believe I'm finally recovered after 28 days laster! Although I've barely started and getting a little tired, so potentially this will not get very far. It's the Easter week and I need to save my energy to keep the two kids entertained. This little project is based on some other models I've seen and although out of place along my various Ghazs, it puts the "P" in CaPCon (Cosplay and Prop Convention). The Commisssar for reference of size and I'll probably keep the shape of that random piece of plastic from my bit box.
I'll have second thoughts next time I decide to use designs with curves. It was a lot of sanding to get these curved side pieces to fit against the pipe at the back. As I had a limited space due to lack of planning, these had to sit flush with the end of the pipe rather than extend further like the original model. Making this removeable also makes things worse as I had to add the same detail for the middle thiner TPRs. It's unlikely I would remove these or use them as individual pieces, but having that option is better than regretting not being able to.
The Thermic Plasma Regulator doesn't seem to be starting up very quicky. Despite the amount of potential material to use, it was just a little too big. So I decided to build one from scratch. However the photo that inspired this meant I had to scratch build multiple TPR's and after cutting and sanding a few layers, I started to think this was a bad idea.
I was testing a small sample of Milliput against an unpainted metal Falcon to see the result after it's dried. Side thought, if it works, I may be able to make moulds! I had a small amount left and decided to make a bunch of skulls from what was left. Many eons ago, I wanted a skull pile and never done anything. I believe I even messed about with remaining greenstuff previously (shown in picture) and thought I had more, but couldn't find it. Milliput was difficult to work with, but due to the softer texture it was easier to poke holes into them. So this is the start of a Thousand Skulls Challenge, but to only sculpt them from left overs... roll on another eon before I achieve this.
Although against my "trying to save space" motto with scenary pieces, I decided to try this concept. Hence the attempt to re-use the circular scraps. My first mistake was trying to use the larger circle for the steps rather than the cut-out smaller circle as the basis. After that light bulb moment, the stairs came together nicely. Hopefully I'll have continual success with the rest of this shrine.
The problem with using a scribe is that it can be potentially unreversable and that scares me from progressing. Especially with all the effort put into making the Tower. So I'm beng very cautious before I commit to a design. I drew out the lines a couple of times and even rubbed a few. Sometimes less is more. The pencil lines didn't come out in the photo, hence I added the red lines and in doing so made it stand out and that help me make my decision. As my paint scheme was blue, I just did a colour change and thought I'd post both photos. Now I just have to make a decision on a Tau style door that doesnt have any curves and design the front and rear of the tower :(
Already started to over engineer the tower after a few sketches with dimensions. I'd like to be able to place at least six stands on each level, but aiming for seven to fit the hexagon together. This doesnt leave much of a lip to connect to the tower. I want to make the tower so it can be dismantled for storage, so already trying to find how to make each level removable, but only one side attached to the tower with no opposite support columns. Hence I need struts that either slot into the tower or beneath the base. Possibly need to start with a single level tower first too.
