I spent too much time on my Ork army and even the Tau updates seems to be increasing. I started looking at other options including a different Chaos Army and even Eldar, but after all the scratch building, I didn't want to go back to painting stock models. Eldar being the most difficult to scratch build due to the many curves. Instead I decided to try and do a site update, but somehow lost some of my photos I taken for the painting competition. Although that would have resulted in an Ork update as I didn't have a backdrop for my Tau yet. Instead I came across my old Tyranid WIP photos and decided to post these into a Tyranid WIP Gallery in the Conversions section. I sometimes wonder if I still have the skill to sculpt.

The smell of the machine oil was strong enough to drive my wife out the room. After more effort than expected, the majority of the oil has been removed, even attempts on the oil in between the grooves of the cogs. I know that when I decide to use these, it'll be difficult as they don't stick with plastic that well, some components are not even plastic. Even with the hard plastic cogs, most type of glue just don't stick, especially when there is probably still a thin coat of oil.
The truck tips forward so the rear wheels are in the air and trying to weigh it down with the tanker helped, but the lack of accuracy meant that trying to get all four set of wheels flat on the ground was always going to be difficult. It even took two attempts to drill a holes into the rear of the truck to pin the tanker to the back correctly. I'm glad I rebuilt the cabin as it looks much more Orky. The weapon looks a bit lacking in detail, but I'm just glad this is finished. Only two more to paint.
As there was a lack of enthusiasm when making these trucks, I decided to take a short cut and just added a large piece of plastic on the side of the cabin. The intention was to then paint the armoured pieces. Unfortunately that's now backfired and I have to plan and paint the plates and somehow add some depth too. If they were not glued on so well, I'd be tempted to pry it off and do it better. At least the bus is finished including the ladder on the side. Not sure whether to make an add on turret to the top.
