One of the many reason I like Epic was less to paint, however this took me 2.5 hrs to paint all five of these! I'm sure it would have taken less time if they were for the 30mm game. I haven't mounted the Gun Drones yet as I'm still trying to decide whether to continue with 1mm rods painted black on a painted base, or switch to clear 1.8mm rods on a clear base. The latter means sanding the tip of the clear rod so they fit between the weapons... decisions, decisions.

tempted to make a bigger Tau Drone disc, however lacked the correct size rod without resorting to the Epic round base. Not wanting to spend any more time, I decided to keep it as is. Unlike the shield drones, I drilled a hole into the clear Hex base and pushed the clear rod inside with some super glue. This meant far less visible glue and hopefully one that less likely to break off.
I thought starting off with some shield Drones would be easy... I was wrong. The 4mm "Super" Styrene rod is immune from the melting effect of my liquid glue that I use, although it did mean I could melt my plastic shavings easily to fill the hole in the middle. The next part was trying to add the different layers; a 3.2mm followed by a 1.6mm and another 3.2mm. As I have a problem with detail, I was trying to get this perfectly aligned in the middle. Then I had the problem trying to rotate it due to the uneven surface and trying to balance the over all layers so it wasn't lopped sided. This was a very bad idea :( And a picture of my sanding disc plus ~22mm in diameter that I used to curve the edges of the Drone discs and the steel brush I used to get the plastic off it.
