The bluetac I used is probably older than this blog site, a little squishy but still usable. So the main body seems a bit wider than I expected and possibly need to be cut down so the waist is shorter than the top. I was originally hoping to add additional plate to show this angle, but that is going to bulk it up up further. This would makes things more complicated. The height of the Riptide is still too low, so I can either add in the feet as separate parts (but makes it less stable) or extend the lower leg square strip and add in the feet as I did with the Battlesuits. The shoulder can possibly be a bit longer and I went the extra length of slicing the sides to match the multiple angles of the real model. Although a bit fiddly and unpredictable, it looks like I will be adopting this for future Riptides. Strangely I seem to only make time to do these models when taking a day-off rather than during the weekend. |

So bit of a slow start and only because I had the day off, not because I managed to quit any games. Battlesuit was small enough for me to use the existing thickness of the plastic card, hence one less dimension to think about. However I didn't have this luxury for the Riptide and there were too many angles to think about. Not owning the real model meant scratch building this more difficult trying to judge the size and dimensions using pictures, but also a bonus that I wouldn't notice every detail and attempt to replicate it. Despite the size of the body looking too big, I've decided to continue and worry about later, hence the reason why the side panels haven't been added in case I had to alter it. This was not going to be an easy model considering I was planning at least six of these.
Uhu glue that wasn't too messy to stick this together, but just a little sticky than expected. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked out so nicely first time. I just hope this concept is the kick start to getting more stuff made.
