As I got another batch of 10x 10ml bottles, it was time for another run of saving and transferring my paints. The Bilious Green looked good until after the first layer poured away and everything beneath was almost solid, but the paint thinner did it's job superbly and I ended up with a full bottle. The Tausept Orche needed saving too and filled the 5ml bottle so I didn't bother scraping the last drop. The Mithril Silver was solid and not worth it and the Ultramarine Blue was salvageable, but I had so many blue it wasn't worth it. I had filled a 5ml previously with the Blood Orange and I filled a further 10ml bottle too. I just need to plan ahead as I keep buying small batches of these bottles and waiting four weeks for them to deliver.

I opted for the hammer instead of the cannon. The first attempt to join the hand to the arm failed and I wasn't satisfied with the look and proportion. Luckily I could easily cut the hand with a pair of scissors and trimmed the edge to re-work it. All that remains is deciding what to do with the base, whether to use the existing mock up or slice it off and mount the Warsmith on a different base. I'll probably finish off the Tau Battlesuits before deciding whether to convert the existing Chaos Terminators to utilise the cannon or model four others to make a HQ squad.
So for comparison, I'm still a bit undecided. The one holding the big gun needs a bit of adjustment to the angle of the arm while holding the gun, but for a Warsmith, the one holding a big hammer fits the role better.
Hopefully after two more snapping at the same place, its third time the charm in trying to glue and stick the model together. I re-worked the rear and rather than rely on green stuff, I used some plastic carefully cut with squares representing the vents. I had to make my own barrels too for the wrist guns as I didn't have any rods thin enough. The final crucial part is the remaining arm and I'm at two minds whether to equip him with a large hammer or a cannon, so I decided to try and make the hand changeable. Hence the extremely delicate hole made in the wrist with a very sharp scalpel blade.
Seems quite painfully slow to do a small piece and wait for it to dry and then sometimes it takes a day or two before I can get back to it. The raised leg was already loose from the stand and I didn't bother to add some green stuff to stick it to the base again. This was unfortunate as while working on the arms, I pushed the model backwards too much and the straight leg snapped at the knee where the plastic was. I originally only had two extended claw blades and a thumb blade, but decided to add a third. I didn't dare add a fourth as the hand was getting too wide.
So I finally got my delivery of 15 ml bottles and they fit nicely onto my paint shelf. I wish I did this years ago as I found some of my old bottle of paints in what I thought was air tighter also dried completely. Out of the box of six metallic paints (purchased around 1990), only the Polished Blue didn't survive, but may be salvageable once I get my paint thinner through the post. I scraped even the thick paint from the old bottles into the new one, so I hope this doesn't cause any issues when I come around to needing them. I can store much more paint on the shelf, but does have a domino effect when I look for ones behind others. Now I'm waiting for more bottles to arrive as I've still got another box of drying paints stored away.
I ended up using the mock up model, but after adding green stuff for the legs, I had to use the Dremel to drill out some of the square sides to make way for the shape of the hips and shoulders. The mock arms also came off. Surprisingly I remembered that using green stuff needed patience as I made each part and let it dry rather than squash the details while making some other part. However making small quantities of green stuff was never easy. Luckily this time I had my thermo moulds that I could press all the spare green stuff into. I'm sure I can never have enough wheels anyway.. Also while I still had the enthusiasm to do modelling (also I was out of in-app energy and waiting for it to refill) I managed to start on my Tau Battlesuits again.
