More work than it's worth. After cutting six sides, I realised they were too wide and had to start again and cut another six slightly less wide to fit with the hex bases. I was tempted to use thinner plastic sheets, but was afraid I wouldn't have sufficient surface on the edge to glue together. After carefully slicing the edges, I used one of the base as a template to glue together. I ended up gluing three together and then the two halves. Although the end result still looks a bit skewed, it may just be sufficient to serve its purpose. I may try the next one using slightly thinner plastic sheets and potentially add some inner corners if there is insufficient contact. Anyone suggest where I can just buy these? |

my new bottle arrived at the same time, hence one quickly painted to ensure I wouldn't have any issues painting on the new bases. Looks like I'll be re-basing all my Tau Battle Suits. Even my Tau Tower may need a re-think, as if I use the same base for a central column, I would be able to fit six Tau Battle suits around it neatly.
The side bastion/stands for the circular tower platform took way too long and are all slightly skewed and needing additional welding to make the corners meet and sharper. Life would be much easier if I had a laser cutter and I would not have to try and make several shapes as close as possible. Three of them went noticeably wrong. I haven't quite decided which way to mount these yet, short side at top or at the bottom?
There are various images I've been referring to, but no clear direction as yet, just a bunch of material and thoughts. As I always change designs, I definitely will be using magnets. So the project is to make either a raised platform or a multi-tiered tower, Unfortunately the Tau circular designs means that it'll be hard to create a curved wall, so I'm not quite sure what to do yet. I just need to have it raised so I don't have to take photos of the ground due to the uncertain terrain I want to have my army of Tau taken on (Tyranids on rocks, Orks in a dessert like, Eldar in grassland etc).
I need to learn how to manage this camera app on my Phone :( Sometimes pictures come out white as above, other times in the same conditions (even between taking photos) can come out in a wash of yellow. Issues aside, I finally managed to finish off my Drone Controller. I even started painting the vents beneath the vehicle and was planning more detail, but then its unlikely be seen anyway. I just now need to decide what to do with the base.
After a short break I was eager to finish off the Welding Drones and ploughed onward with amazing success as the last daylight disappeared. These seemed even smaller than the 6mm figures and I had to paint these between figures rather than mounted on a base.
I managed to work on the second page of C2C (not published yet) at the beginning of the week, but then the games I've been playing released new content and rewards you for being online for 2 hours. Adding to the C2C page was easy, unlike trying to pick up a paint brush. At least I managed to start it off, not enjoying the base coat as it highlights all the imperfections and strands of glue/plastic. Its a slow start as I decided to work on the detail, hoping I won't mess it up while doing the other parts. Its slow as I'm having to keep switching between droplet bottles, screwing the top back on to avoid the paint thickening and repeatedly washing my new brush to ensure it stays clean.
Hours spent updating the web page including taking some new photos for this C2C page. Photos were taken from my phone and look much nicer, but the focus is my main issue. The page unfortunately is currently all Orks, but I'm hoping that will be more different going forward. I even spent an hour on the above image. I think I enjoy this despite the amount of time spent, not once did I think about my games...
