I don't think I ever mentioned this piece of extremely useful tool that I use, especially for my HQ that requires nice straight vertical walls. I originally had several small bricks built into a wall for this job, but then my sons wanted the Lego pieces back. Hence I was left with this Duplo piece. Its shape actually benefit me even more as I have small tabs sticking out from the base, hence the edge of the Duplo piece hangs over the tabs. The hard plastic unfortunately isn't impervious to the glue, but is still quite resilient. |

First impression... technically the second as the first choice of mesh imprint was too big for Epic scale. I originally intended to use this for a small meshed cabinet, but think this is still too big. However these rolling pins were designed for 40K. My green stuff wasn't mixed ideally as there were cured hard pieces where the yellow and blue was stuck together. However I was quite impressed with the outcome, but didn't have fun mixing the green stuff (been a while). Nor was it easy with my choice of flat rolling pin (was tempted by the one from Green Stuff World) as the key thing for this turning out correctly is the even layer of green stuff for he new rolling pin to do it's job. Nothing stuck to the rolling pin, however my green stuff wasn't very sticky. Considering my plan for the other two rolling pins was for Tau wall and floor sections, I'm not going to be looking forward to the prep-work required.
Surprisingly I spent small amount of time throughout the week on this, but unfortunately tweaking and changing the design to the side and front wall. The side wall had the most changes that also meant I had to put a large pipe clip to hide the split in the pipe, I decided not to use magnets for the front wall as most likely it'll remain removed for majority of the time. It now has a slot on one side and fits quite snugly in place. The pipes joining the headphone piece was a pain and I had to extend them rather than it down. It also have small cut off valves. All the pieces unfortunately crammed to one side leaving the front quite empty which warranted more changes, but decided to end it for now and hopefully see how it comes together when I paint it.
Seems yesterday was just one off spurt of inspiration and progress. Possibly because the call of my games was too much. I managed to add some pipe clips, although I don't think I'll be doing this much. Trying to bend straight strips of plastic around the pipe was not a simple task. I worked on making the side wall of the Boiler Room removable, so that the big pipe in the middle actually split apart and a small rod between to allow it to slot together. The other end would slot into square box on the other side. The front wall where the entrance would be will also be removable. I'm low on the 3mm diameter magnets that I used for my 40K Tau, but now I know where I got them, the cost doesn't seem too steep compared to when I first purchased them... possibly ~15+ years ago.
finally loosing interest in the ever day grind of my games. I forgot that my cutting mat had some 45 degree angle'd lines that helps make a perfect right angle cut to make angled pipes. I've been previously making random cuts, hence the reason the large pipes have multiple angled sections. Not sure if this boiler/pipe room will be finalised as I'm not sure what will above it... will I need to re-work some of this again like shifting the Toxic Disposal pipe 1mm to the left just so I can align the pipe above it perfectly? The in-ear headphone piece I plan to use could have been useful in blocking the call from my games :)
These just literally arrived! From www.greenstuffworld.com and something I've been wanting to get for a long time now. I finally decided to splash out and get these direct after issues a couple of years ago trying to get these via ebay. I was so tempted to go all out and get a full set of six, but it didn't have the Tau in the set. I've yet to try these and hopefully it won't be several years before I do. I now wish I did the Tau scenery rather than the SM HQ.
It was time for a break from painting after two completed projects. I was planning to scrap the Tau Riptides and the Chaos squad was incomplete. There were so many projects I wanted to do including some scenery for the Tau so that I could take some new photos. However I opted for the SM HQ and try and finish off B1. It was something I noticed and had planned a while back, but possibly a bad idea. Hopefully it will only be this section and the idea will not expand to the rest of the project. Planning the plumbing would be a pipe dream. There is a large pipe in the Toxic Disposal Chamber and the source is from a planned Generator Room several rooms away. Hence the corner section that will have the pipe come up from B2 to B1, through a room that I plan as a Boiler like room and down two corridor sections. I'm not an Architect and there is no pre-planning on these rooms! I'll probably find a shooting range with an ammo store behind it.
magnetic strip is not just metal and there is negative/positive sections. As even though all my Neodymium magnetic are in the same direction, I didn't check the magnetic strip and some inside the holes in the display pushes the model out :(
