I didn't hang about with the second Tau Gun Tower as it was the bank holiday Monday before I head back to work and a break in Sim City Buildit League.

make clean joins and went straight to green-stuff. Although the green-stuff was getting more dry and it was less soft once mixed, it meant using the remainder to make skulls was quite difficult.
Before I start another new set of Battlesuit creations, I thought I'd better tackle something Old. While thinking about the remaining two Tau Towers, I turned to something simpler. I need another Tau Gun tower. While gathering the bits, I come across some spare 40K Tau shields that are smaller discs than the Drone disc... must hold off doing something new.
I decided that it was about time to use the new hex bases, even though they are thicker than my normal bases, it didn't seem much different. Especially these special suits were supposed to be slightly lager and the plan was to start making these a little bit bigger like the newer 40K Battlesuits. I painted the base first as it was easier than trying to draw a straight line through the feet of the Battlesuit, but it does mean one shot at it. Due to the larger base size, I had to have a flat side to the front so they fit on the Tower platforms and that was my first mistake. I ended up having to repaint one section after glueing it on wrong. Slicing them off the original base, I ended up snapping the leg and arm off the XV84 and suprisingly the XV89 (action pose) didn't snap at all.
So the XV80's in comparison are slightly taller than the standard Battlesuits I've made. This wasn't an issue as the XV's were supposed to be new commanders. However the XV81 was shorter than the other two :( And I noticed that the lower legs were shorter than they should be. Likely I'll cut them at the knees and add a little bit to it. That will increase the heght even more and when I eventually get these painted, I'm planning to mount them onto the new hex bases that are even thicker.
Luckily this will be one of a kind rather than requiring to make multiple of these shoulder pads. They are slightly different, one just noticably longer, but I decided not to make any changes and hope it's less obvious once on the model and painted.
Not sure if it was worth the wait, but finally got myself some Gloss to cover the crystals that looked too matt. Although it makes a lot of difference from looking at it, the photos just doesnt make much difference. I may just need to get a new camera... or phone...
