It's finally got to the point I couldn't avoid making parts that needed a round tip; the missile tips, the Plasma Rifle and the Shield Generator. Luckily the Dremil I had came with some sanding discs. Using the Dremil was probably over-kill so I had to manually sand the rods. Working at this scale is quite difficult to tell if you got a nice rounded surface and sometimes I tend to end up with a sharpened tip. Overall seems quite a nice success and useful start when eventually I ever get around to making my own Eldar.

Despite regular fits of coughing, I still managed to get six weapons made. The Burst Cannons were the most difficult as I still need to learn to make straight cuts, hence gluing the four gun barrels was extremely difficult. The Plasma Rifle took some careful sanding and the Fusion Blaster was quick and easy. I'd continue making more, but I think the vapours from the polystyrene glue's triggering a coughing fit.
I got some textured plastic some years ago, but forgot where. I'm pretty sure it wasn't as expensive as the one's I've been looking for on ebay and the other online stores. So I decided to make my own with some cheap green-stuff as I have like four long strips stored in a vacuum bag, more than a life-time worth in epic years. So with a wooden stick I got from somewhere, I rolled out the green-stuff and made corrugated imprints with a smaller plastic rod and this worked out the best. I also used existing textured card and this worked out relatively well... as long as you can peel it apart. The chain mail looked nice too using the end of the rod to poke holes into. Works out nicely as I'm using 0.25mm thick plastic sheet that is really cheap.
Ahy Grey, Rakarth Flesh and two Kislev Flesh bases (one with red lighting that I decide not to use). These are against my mountain rock, grass flock and dirty dessert yellow. Once I select the base colour, I'd likely also use it for my Tau HQ that I'm planning. Which one do you think works on the different battlegrounds?
The final three of the nine I planned now complete. Problem now is how to make the weapons; Burst Cannon, Missile Pod and Plasma Cannons are going to be difficult. Also I'd like to mount shield generators and multi-trackers. I've yet to decide how to paint the bases too. I was thinking of some Tau technology base as opposed to a natural terrain because I plan to display these in a Tau fortress. Any ideas?
This idea has been in my thoughts for many years, so finally decided to try it. I want to make a small river section at the top of the mountain that leads to a waterfall. It cascades down into a pool. Now normally the pool would lead to a river, but as I didn't want to then make multiple river sections, I decided to have it run into a chasm. This way I don't have to worry about the river if I ever use this as a table top battle piece. Two nice images I found on google to work with.
I always wanted to try one of these Woodland Scenic kit, however never wanted to pay for something that I'd likely mess up. However I got this as a Christmas present. I'm slightly disappointed as the instructions are plain and too simple that I had to check out a YouTube video. The main item I wanted to try was the Realistic Water and Water Effect. Separately they come in large bottles, too much for epic and costs almost as much as this kit for one of the bottles. I believe the Plaster Cloth is really cheap, but something I've never tried either. The fine grass turf and talus probably won't server my purpose either. Overall not very impressed.
As someone asked if I had some guidelines on making the Tau Battlesuit, I decided to knock up a page in the Conversion section. Although I had my guideline scribbled on a notepad, replicating it on my website gives myself a backup and others a guide on making one. Rather than take photos, I created quick images as the white plastic in a photo doesn't give me the detail needed. Any feedback on this article would be helpful.
I've been using my blue penknife for potentially over ten-years for every conversion I've made. However as I made larger models and I was cutting through 2mm thick plastic, I broke off the plastic case due to excessive pressure applied. Hence it's now wrapped with tape. This prompted me to purchase a heavy duty penknife. I still used the blue penknife primarily, including making the first three Tau Battlesuit and that proved difficult at times with finer cuts. So I finally overcome my fear and purchased a scalpel (childhood accident that I still bear the scar on my finger for). It definitely made it easier to make the second set of Tau Battlesuit, but the tip of the blade has broken as I used it for every cut. I just need to get better at using the right tool for the right job.
