So it was a nice hot dry day and I had no excuse not to finish up trimming all the plants around the house. It was so hot that I got a little dehydrated while pruning the remaining plants. At least that would be it for the rest of the year and hopefully the next too. However still just the lawn. The second day of the weekend was less sunny and I wish I did it then, but can never tell with the weather. At least I managed to pull myself away from my games and continue painting. Hence the littlest Ork dragging a cog and the Welder painted. I think I went overboard with the different colours on the Welder and may need to dial the colours back a bit, but happy with the red zipper lighter and the gauge on the rear of each gas tank, |

I worked on pruning the plants around my property and using the bad weather as an excuse, I cut the work short. It was only a brief drizzle, but the tools were all put away to continue. Fighting the urge to get back on my games, I managed to spend a little more time on these. Two of the Orks had to be re-based, but after a bit of reluctance, a bit more mixed green-stuff spread on the base seemed to hold it well enough. I was tempted to re-base the others too but continued with the painting instead. I was planning to somehow suspend the turret from the hydraulic hoist, but decided scale was against me, so I just hung a piece of chain on it instead. I'm now trying to decide whether to go to town with the spare wheel and drill the middle out so I can paint the middle bolts and make a separate wheel cover...
After spending a hot weekend sorting the garden (including shearing the cable with the hedge trimmer), I finally manage to tear myself from my games, well... its AFK grinding in the background. I don't usually work on multiple things, but waiting for the wash to dry, I started pulling other stuff out and also trying to plan how to base the Orks. Trying to make the most of the time now that I've got the paint brush out. It's been so long that the oil in my droplet bottles have separated from the paint and sitting at the top. Unfortunately the vigorous shaking hasn't helped :(
I took a break, one that lasted longer than expected. Faced with the growing unpainted figures, the Tau Riptides that I wasn't satisfied with and a whole load of new photos to update my Space Marine HQ pages that didn't quite fit with the existing; meant lack of any enthusiasm to get back into the hobby. Matters didn't help with purchasing a PS4 for my son who couldn't keep playing Fortnite on his Ipad. It also meant that I could play Gran Turismo and Diablo 3, two age old addictive games I played, amongst other new games on my Ipad.
Am I back for good... this has been sitting out for over a month now since I cut it apart to add to my Ork Mechanics display. I finally decided to try and get back into this by making some small progress while my games was auto-grinding in the background. So only time will tell. |
