I got annoyed while editing the photos taken on my Samsung A40 due to the loss of focus on the edges in group photos. I was on the verge of abandoning a site update, until my wife suggested why not use her old phone. Although the A5 is a lot older (as she didn't want to upgrade it), the focus was much better whenever we took family photos. So I tried it... and annoyed that it was better. Unfortunately the colour balance was different, so I had to take all the photos again and re-edit them :( |

was the Wave Serpent in opposite angles (top left and bottom right was out of focus, while the camera photos was always towards the edges.
The Eldar Fire Dragons in the Eldar Army section were taken ~2005. I had also made the shrine for it too using Dragon statues from a Warhammer army box set game (can't remember what it was called). I was tempted to replicate something similiar for my Striking Scorpions, however got stuck on inspiration. Also I didn't have any scoprion figures, hence would need to make something from scratch. Instead I decided to re-work this scenary a bit including mounting the Phoenix Lord on a round base that matches the shrine. Rather than break out the Dremil, I just drilled a hole and carved it to size with the scalpel instead. Less messy, but slower.
magnetic strip is not just metal and there is negative/positive sections. As even though all my Neodymium magnetic are in the same direction, I didn't check the magnetic strip and some inside the holes in the display pushes the model out :(
the final result regardless how much time I spent. The old pieces had red gems while I opted for an electric blue on the new pieces. Luckily it was five of each, hence I decided not to change the old ones other than a bit of touch up. This main eleventh piece had blue gems on the staff and body, but also red gems on the head piece. Painting the rune on the rear cloak was a nightmare as the surface was all bumpy. It's probably time to buy and try some liquid green stuff. But most likely by the time I use it, it'll have all dried up. That also reminds me I still got my liquid plastic resin I've never tried yet.
due to the lack of natural light. I decided to give this Warlock a black helm with red eyes and a bit of bone deco above one eye. Unfortunately the black wash dim'd the eyes so they are barely visible. I didn't want a large glyph on the rear of the cloak and went with some small ones on the edges. Only one left to paint.
I took two days off just to begin the countdown. Two more days and I'm back in the office full time. That leaves me one more day to paint the last two Eldar Warlocks/Farseers. Although there is the five old ones that look a little out of place in comparison to the others and wondering if I want to re-do them from scratch or try and touch them up to the same standards and... redness as some of them look a bit faded.
Painting is not as easy as creating new stuff. It takes a lot more effort and you can't just sit down and dabble. You can't just cut a few pieces of plastic or glue a few parts together and then walk away. It takes a lot more effort to pick up a paint brush and paint. Worse is trying to continue after a bit of mistake or unsure how to paint it. I think that is why I enjoyed making Ork pieces so much, its just bashing things together. I just need to persist with the remaining ones.
magnetic strip around the edges and mounting them ready for painting, I realised that I would need to base coat these white before another base coat of red. Double the effort required.
