So despite trying to measure the original, the top of the second tower is 1mm out and just noticible. I wish I noted down all the sizes that I decided to use rather than do it with the second tower. There are small variations that also means the second tower wouldn't fit on the base of the first. At least this tower is making quicker progress, now that I know what the final tower would look like. For the overall idea of this city, I'll need a third tower hence the dimensions used jotted down on my mini sketch pad I used for various ideas inlucidng pages of different SM HQ floor plans.

Four almost perfectly cut hexagons, or at least in comparison to each other. Some of the sides are slightly off, but at least when placed on top of each other there are the less deviation. Only one of these four are not one complete hexagon, but two halves. The rest are pencil lines. This will be a tower with two levels. Rather than paint the first tower then use it as reference and likely chip the paint away while measure what I did the first time, I'd thought I better build the second one first... but also an excuse not to paint.
Twenty-one triangles scrap pieces cut down to shape to make these small Tau-like buttresses with one going back in the growing pile. Barely a dent in the five containers and one pot of scraps. I was so tempted to sort some of the scraps out in the right two containers. One was originally only intended for the tiled pieces from my Space Marine HQ, but now contains larger pieces of plain plastic sheets. I'm glad that I managed to get all ten butresses done up in one session. I'm suprised there was very little deviation in the angle, but the triangles aren't perfect, but hopefully not noticable. However I thought the slightly miss-aligned 1st platform with the ground tower wouldn't bother me, but I spent over an hour last night cutting up the walls so I could get the two platforms aligned!
I ended up using my square rods and tubes that fit together smooth and tightly. I didn't plan ahead, but the horizontal tube worked out perfectly, unfortunately I couldn't say the same for the vertical tube that I ended up having to slice off to reposition correctly. I also needed two different thickness of plastic card as I didn't have any the same thickness as the tube. The effort was worthwhile as the original intention was so that I could take this piece apart for storage, but also in case I wanted to modify it. However I now have something even better if future pieces follow the same design. These pieces are prefect for mouldar components, change the platform to something different, mount a higher tower, or transform the base into a bunker with a rear entrance.
platform that is posed in the second picture. Unfortunately the nip in the tower wasn't planned, otherwise the round platform would have slotted in perfectly. I'm tempted to shorted the circular tower just so it's an option. Once I get the second platform mounted, table and removable, it's moving onto adding some Tau features.
This is getting complicated fast. My ground level now has open slits that I originally wasn't intended to have. The roof also comes off so that I can put things inside and not just stands of troops. There is a bit of a lip above the roof so stands don't slide off, however I now wish I made them higher. I have an idea what the tower will look like, but currently trying to work out how to make the upper level slide into place, but removable, hence unable to start gluing it together. Currently it looks nothing like a Tau building, but hopefully some small additions later will rectify this.
Already started to over engineer the tower after a few sketches with dimensions. I'd like to be able to place at least six stands on each level, but aiming for seven to fit the hexagon together. This doesnt leave much of a lip to connect to the tower. I want to make the tower so it can be dismantled for storage, so already trying to find how to make each level removable, but only one side attached to the tower with no opposite support columns. Hence I need struts that either slot into the tower or beneath the base. Possibly need to start with a single level tower first too.
