Unfortunately due to a recent discount on the PS4, I got this old game and been playing this with my two son's from level 1 again, but having a blast. Although now finished the game once, it's a matter of levelling up all the other characters and unlocking all the other characters which is what I'll be doing. Diablo 3 is also at a new season too, so starting from level 1 there too. Double the amount of time required for both games. However I finally decided to work on the Eldar next. After cleaning the |
magnetic strip around the edges and mounting them ready for painting, I realised that I would need to base coat these white before another base coat of red. Double the effort required.

So what should I work on next. I still have my Eldar Seer Council to paint, the Tau Riptides will likely not get touched as I plan to modify (or even scrap) them, my Hell Hammer and the Chaos Marines... or shall I just start a new project so that it can sit around waiting to be painted... or should I get some updates to this website... so much to choose and so much time spent on my mobile games :(
Even though the models fitted snug into the holes, likely after painting them it would pose an issue. Either they would be a tighter fit or the paint would constantly chip off the side. So I opted to add a thin base and add the cheap magnetic tape into the holes. Unlike my Eldar that had magnetic tape stuck on base of the model, the Ork Krew already had the small Neodymium magnets. So there was only one layer making them rise only slightly above the main base. I'm glad the magnetic tape was cheap as I wasted over 50% of what I used!
After an attempt to use the Dremel as a Router, I just ended up drilling right through. Each one is in a snug hole with nothing beneath. It was a dangerous game as I decided not to wear my protective goggles due to the dim'd visibility. I remember too well the last time I got a spec of plastic in the eye and the long wait in A&E. However I was lucky not to repeat that, taking more care, but still ending up with a fine layer of plastic dust on my glasses. I guess having to wear them all the time have its advantages. I can't wait when technology advances (better than current google glass) that I can just wear my ever-day glasses and have it zoom into these small models when I need to.
I could do with having a laser cutter or something equivalent. I didn't want to break out a new scalpel blade with its pointed tip so I was using a standard Stanley knife and they don't do curves very well. I wanted these mounted on different bases as they may be put inside the Chop Shop in different places. Although the Ork Krew contains a magnet in their base, I didn't want to use more for the larger base. So I may end up cutting slot holes instead that I am not looking forward to doing.
I included more detail than any others including the dial on the backpack, steel toe'd caps (not visible in the photo), and studs on the shoulder pad beneath the welding torch (barely visible even when looking at the model up close!). All that is left is putting the pieces together and painting the base... oh and the spare wheel that I intend to modify!
