My Samsung A40 can do nice photos as long as you get the zoom working how you'd like it. Although focus is still not perfect. So I ended up going for the action pose with one foot slightly raised as per my source pictures. The weapon arms were glued to the shoulder first, but this can be risky. As it would mean that the angle could be incorrect when glued to the main body. Once again, I just need to wait for the plastic to dry and solidfy before attempting anything else. And I still hate making burst cannons. |

definately far better. At least the focus works perfectly. I'm sure the tint of blue is coming from the camera.
I need some hobby wedges or some other alternative way to glue the lower arm weapons to the shoulder. Gravity doesn't help the plastic to bond. This is the best solution I can come up with, as the tweezers are angled, I can slide it beneath each arm until they support it at the correct height. Luckily I had two of these, one for each arm.
The shoulder armour was more difficult. Once again with three pieces of plastic, I tried to wrap it to the square rod. Patience got the better of me as I tried to shape things while the glue was wet. In the end I opted to make the armour from a slightly larger solid square rod and grind a grove into the middle. Now trying to make a shoulder that protudes from this will be the problem.
Working on Tau Battlesuit got me thinking about my towers again and some platform to hold the Battlesuits so I could finally get around to taking some photos. There was either the simple large hexagon, or six smaller ones to form one large multi-angled platform... I opted for the simple one. Luckuly I had to buy a maths set for my oldest son hence access to a Protractor that helped me cut this hexagon. I'm now tempted to create my own small hex bases. despite purchasing a lot of transparent hex bases from Fluid 3D that are a little bit thicker than I would like. This central platform would hopefully eventually hold the central Tau tower too.
The XV84 was going to be the first model I concentrated on and while waiting for the legs to bond, I started working on the jetpack of the XV89. Both had a standard jetpack and after fiddling with it when the glue wasn't dry resulted in wasted time... hence I started working on the third XV81 taht had a different jetpack. I ended up making a sandwich for this and it was a good idea, just poorly executed. Aas I cut the rods too short (to reduce waste) so when it came together, one side kept rocking back and forth. The top section took four attempts to get right and was supposed to have some layer's, but then just got too thick. I need to remember to keep things simple.
Rather than throw myself into something entirely new, I decided to opt for something familiar to get me slowly back into the swing of things. Although this was not one that can be progressed with ease. After hunting through piles of scrap for the right thickness and size, I managed to get this done in ~an hour. Not the best time spent. These will be used for the XV81, XV84 and XV89 suits as they all share the common body as the rest of my Armoured Core and each will be a single suit to form a trio squad.
