I created this around an epic base. This Drone have been modified a couple of times as the front nose was originally slanted up to the front. It's currently level, but the original plan was to have this slanted downwards. There were various other small changes and additions including the two Shield Drones on the front. I've still not decided whether to stop here or make further changes. The main change would likely be additional tail so the Drone wouldn't be front heavy. Can you tell what this is based on?

Slicing Rods at Various Thickness

The top layer of the Drone Disc was made from the ABS Styrene 4mm rods. I'm getting used to the material and despite the glue I was using doesn't melt it, other plastic do bond to it. The edges  were sanded to give the curved edges to the disc and then manually sliced. I still not got a good technique
and afterwards I still need to sand down the base to get a more even thickness to the disc. The second set of rods is the standard 3.2mm rods StripStyrene by Evergreen Scale Models. At the Rise of the Drones, I opted to use the Guillotine. However due to the angled cut, it was too much trouble trying to sand them down to have even thickness. Previously I put up with this, but not this time around. Hence I opted for the Pipe Cutter (unable to find a post about this) and after a lot of gruves added to the rod, I finally got a bit better at judging the size. The blade was much thicker with

the sharp tip in the middle, hence hard to judge where the gruve would be placed. So 9 out of 37 wasn't too bad? I just now need 9x 2.0 thick rod for the third layer, but fortunately this layer is barely visible and used to bond the weapons to the Drone.

The Last Trio

The last three disc now used to make these drones. These definately seemed better made than the others, although it did take me ~20 minutes to make each pair of weapons! The circles beneath the top disc also took a bit longer time as I was trying to avoid them being lop-sided. This give me a total of 12 drones. Not quite the army I envisage, but hopefully I'll get around to sanding the rods to make more drone discs to keep expanding.
